What is the secret to getting a blog post up?

This is like the third time now I've made a post in this blog section.
It either gets cut off with a bunch of asterisks or nothing gets posted at all.
Is there some sort of secret way to get a post up on here? It's kind of doing my head in.
Any tips welcome! thanks
