When I first shared the idea of swinging with Menaka (my girlfriend whom I was dating for a little more than 2 years at the time), her first response was "That sounds like a sin." With a lot of explaining and arguments over the following days, we finally decided to step into this lifestyle and are now happily engaging in it.
Yes, we all are bound with our authentic Sri Lankan culture and the values associated and it seems really hard to break loose and enjoy the freedom and the benefits associated with this lifestyle. We are worried about "what if" s and "but" s. What if my buddies gets to know - Or better yet, parents. But it is considered unethical, right?
Both of us also went through the same set of questions when we decided to try this, and I am here to tell you that those questions went flying away after our first experience.
We started expressing our emotions more freely. We were very open about our desires and we actually started enjoying conversations about this lifestyle.
We are still very new to this lifestyle and there are things that we both are uncomfortable in doing. However, we started setting goals to this lifestyle - planning what we're going to do and how we are going to get comfortable to reach those goals.
Our advice to all the couples who are new to this lifestyle: start slow, know each other's desires well, set goals in this lifestyle and discuss how both of you are going to achieve those goals.
