Etiquette and Protocol at swingers parties

Having been recently invited to our first swingers party we were somewhat unsure of how protocol would work. We have fun but for us it lacked erotic experiences, while we all dressed up there was no erotic flirting or teasing, it was very much “wam bam”.
The question is have we got this wrong? With ten couples we assumed there would be lots of teasing, flirting, touching, call it old fashioned foreplay. We would interested to know what the correct protocol is at these types of events, do they differ from swingers clubs.

Yes I agree, so it was a bad experience. I totally agree communication, suggestive conversation etc is all a part of the foreplay - warm up act and in my opinion should always be followed

We run house parties every month, it is very difficult to balance the tastes of all the guests.
We occasionally get guests who are here for just a "Wham, Bam, thank you ma'am", but we have many more who like to chat and make friends first.
We have found that the ones who are here just to fuck don't pay us a repeat visit.
From experience we have split our home into several distinct areas:
The lounge and eating areas are where people drink, eat and chat, some jump into the piscina and continue chatting with people.
When couples have made a connection they move off to one of the play rooms.
They have some fun, then return downstairs to chat some more.
Every party you attend will be different, unless they always have the same group of guests.
Our parties start at 9pm, but the play rooms are often empty until about midnight, then they are rocking until the last guests leave at around 4am.
You need to find a venue and hosts that you like.
Don't give up trying, don't be scared to start the flirting with the other guests.
Never play with people you are not attracted to.
Never do anything you don't want to do.
Always say NO if anyone, including your partner, tries to push you to do something you don't want to do.
