Sex, Society and the also rans

A guy called Marcuse wrote a book back in the sixties called Eros and Society, a must read in those days. He put forward the idea that society uses Sex as a means to control the young, to make them conform and become good members of society. Those ideas are out of date now I suppose but sexual repression still causes misery.
Anybody brimming with confidence and who has charm and good looks can score at will, but alas for the tongue tied, the charmless and ugly. Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth.
