What happened to the Lifestyle??

I've been " in the lifestyle",. since I was 19. I started on the bottom and worked My way up....so to speak.  Chuckle.  As the old song says, I've seen both sides now. Over the last several years, especially since dealing with the internet, I've seen a number of changes in the lifestyle.  Some good, many not.
While the internet has given us a degree of freedom and contact, we never had before......it has also brought a lot of changes.  Before, people had to be very interested in our society and make a high degree of effort to seek us out.  Contact was always personal and required a commitment. Todayy, no real effort or commitment is required. You sit behind your anonymous screen, do a bit of " Googling", join a site and declare yourself Dominant or submissive.  A large number I speak with are just making it up as they go along. Chuckle.
For those of us who have been in the lifestyle for a while, learned by either doing or being taught/mentored, it's becoming glaringly obvious who those people are.  (A hint:. Men can't play with Ben Wah balls alone.  Not without medical intervention and usually surgery. Google is your friend.  Grin)
There's nothing wrong with learning and curiosity.  Most real Dominants love teaching, training and Mentoring.  I've even taken many submissives under My protection, to try and insure they were not harmed during their learning process. You just need to be totally open and honest about your needs and experience. 
Also, while fantasies are wonderful and our society thrives on them, you can't expect a true Dominant to just be willing to make your fantasies a reality without a commitment on your part.  We are not here to serve you.. It's actually the other way around.  I believe most submissives become confued by some commercial segments of the society and believe this is what the core base of our society is.  It's not.
Personally, I'm an Owner. I mainly keep consentual Owned submissives .  I do occasionally play with subs, but find My interest in doing so has wained considerably of late. My need for control is very strong and My patience with the online games and the negativity of the current sub ****l are creating a strain that I have no desire to become involved in.  I find My strongest desire is to simply find a couple of real submissives and leave all of these "changes" to the evolving Dominants, submissives and players.  Is that a copout on My part?  Probably.  I, however, feel I paid My dues and fought My way to My current status, and now deserve to enjoy My hard work.
