Hello Swingers, I'm sure blogging is the last thing on most people's mind on here but seeing as this is my first time on a casuals website I figured I'd make use of the blogging facilities to open up some discussion...and have a little vent.
It's hard to say what I expected from signing up to this site. For a little context, I've come in and out of long term relationships to the point that a severe breather is necessary at this stage when it comes to commitments. I've been casual with people in the past but it's often by chance which can take away some of the opportunities to explore my adventurous side. As a result, I can safely say I'm experienced in the bedroom but haven't experienced enough (if that makes sense).
When I first signed up, I had a picture at the ready: Nothing too filthy, just a standard profile picture so people would know that what you see is what you get. I don't see a point in swinging my dick around on camera like a worm on a fishing line at first point of contact as I'd like to be able to socialise with whoever I hook up with even if there's no strings attached. Antisocial isn't sexy, however brief the encounter.
Messages started to trickle in and I thought "Hey, this could be fun!" but it became pretty clear which ones were spam and quickly sidestepped those...or so I thought. I began talking to a couple of people and soon, it was revealed that they were also running spam accounts. As the chat list was gradually thinned out, I began talking to what I thought were the remaining actual human females. - What came next left me pretty aggravated, in all honesty.
One of the remaining chats which stood out was with a girl up visiting family in my city. She said what she was after and told me a little about herself. Not just the kinky stuff but her common likes/dislikes. We made a few jokes with each other, began to lean towards the flirtier side - She had personality and while it didn't change the fact that I was after a casual encounter, the nerves of signing up to something like this for the first time seemed to get a lot easier.
Sadly, things didn't go as expected. Plans were made to meet somewhere but as she said she was about to leave, the hook finally started to tug. A strange link was sent and I was told I'd need to sign up with a fee so she'd know I'm not a safety hazard. I've been out of the online dating loop for some time so for all I knew, it could be feasible but then they claimed that it was mandatory for anyone meeting up on the site despite it not being something linked on Swingers Scotland itself. At this point, their language changed dramatically and the illusion of having a fun filled night was shattered. I cracked open a bottle of wine, poured myself a glass and deleted the chat. I may not have been thinking with my brain first but I still have certain boundaries where I can hear the bells ringing.
The tricky part is how much things have evolved since I encountered my first scammers nearly 15 years ago... A random contacts you claiming to be sending me their hidden Nazi gold from Africa before they are discovered by the local militia, it always sounded like something straight out of an Indiana Jones film.
Scammers these days put more effort into their scams, to the point that the alarm bells don't set off in your brain until the rug is almost completely pulled out from under you. Maybe I'm just naive about things, I assumed there would be people like this on here but so far, I've yet to speak to someone who seems like a genuine human out for some fun. When you're new to this thing, you start to wonder if you're being Truman'd.
With the high hope that that's not the case though, I'll keep on checking up on this and see how it goes. Have you had similar experiences? Feel free to give some feedback and in the meantime, happy swinging! 😉

We have met some genuinely great people from this website (8 men in person on separate occasions)! Please don't give up - there are real people on here who do want to hook up. We have had our share of timewasters but don't allow that to deter us x |

Thanks for the comment and support there cpt. 🙂 I'm an optimistic guy so no giving up on this end but thought it was a worthwhile post as I imagine there's a few people that get the same vibes when they try this out for the first time. 🙂 x |
