Just when you least expect it .....cont

James opened the car door for me, and just as I went to get in he said “I'm sorry but I have to do this”. And with that he pulled me close and kissed me again, his hands holding me firmly to him. I couldn't escape his grip even if I wanted to and believe me, I didn't want to. “I've been thinking about you and doing that all afternoon” he said smiling “Sorry”. Smoothing myself down I got into the car and smiled back, “no need to apologise, I must admit to thoughts along that line too”. He closed the door and got in the car. “Really?” he touched my knee “care to share?”. Those butterflies were back, my body tingling at his touch. “maybe later” I replied “Where are we going?”. He started the engine, “Are you strapped in?” he fastened his seat belt and grinned “Tonight we can go and do whatever we please, the night is young”. And we pulled away from my house.

We drove for about 30 mins, then pulled into the car park of a country pub, it looked quite busy, safety in numbers I thought. The car door opened and James gave me his hand to help me out. He is so attentive, looks like there are still gentlemen alive and kicking in our fair land. “I hope you like it here, it's quite busy yet quiet enough to hold a conversation so we can get to know each other”. Inside a few people sat at the bar, others were sat at tables, the barmaid smiled as we approached the bar. “Good evening, what can I get you?” James looked at me “Wine or something stronger?” he grinned. “wines good, rose please” I replied. “take a seat and I'll bring the drinks over” he said. I found a cosy corner and sat facing the bar, James joined me but instead of sitting opposite me he sat beside me. “you don't mind do you? It's just I prefer not to have my back to the door”. “No, it's fine”and I shuffled along the bench so he could get comfy..

He placed a large glass of wine in front of me and a pint of larger for himself, “just the one” he said “Dutch courage” I laughed “I was glad I wasn't the only one who was feeling awkward and nervous. He put his arm around my shoulder and pulled me close. I felt warm and surprisingly relaxed sat next to him. My hand automatically slid along his thigh, and I felt his muscles tighten under my fingers. His response was a squeeze and a kiss on the cheek. We chatted while we had our drinks, we talked about our meeting that morning, the dogs. Of course the dogs it was them that brought us together. The usual came up 'how come your single?” etc. James looked at his watch “hungry?” he asked. I wasn't, I was far to excited to eat. “ No not really, but if you are we could grab something” I answered. “OK then”we finished our drinks and James took my hand and led me out of the pub.

In the car park he told me of a little restaurant down by the harbour. We decided to have a look, we could always get fish and chips if we fancied. Driving back his hand slipped onto my knee, he gave it a squeeze, I looked at him and he smiled. “You OK?' he said “Yes, I'm fine honestly”. I replied “It's been a long time since I've been on a date”. He chuckled “me too”. We found a parking space, and walked through the harbour to the restaurant. The air was warm and the lights reflected on the sea from the sailing boats, music from the pubs flowed out into the streets, people sat outside cafés, there was quite a lot of people around for a week night. We were walking hand in hand, and it felt good to be with someone who was equally as tactile as myself and who treated me nice, opening doors, pulling out chairs, yes tonight was very good so far. We arrived at the restaurant, the menu looked good so we went in. The waiter showed us to a table and handed us some menus. He took our drinks order and said he'd come back when we were ready. James held my hand across the table, every time he touched me I got tingles over my skin, his touch was soft and attentive. By now food was not top of my list, I wanted to be in his arms, alone somewhere away from prying eyes. I looked at him while he sat talking about his hobbies, he must have noticed that I wasn't really listening and a huge grin spread across his face, “And that is how I saved the universe from the mighty Zorg” he laughed “Am I talking to much?” “I realised I was just studying the contours of his face, his eyes, his mouth and those cute dimples. I leaned forward and kissed him, it was my turn to take the reins.

“You really aren't interested in food are you?” he said softly kissing me back. I blushed and shook my head. “ Me neither, lets go”. And with that we made our apologies, paid for our drinks and left.
Outside we wrapped ourselves in each other and kissed for what seemed forever. Hands wandered touched and stroked, “where shall we go?” he asked. Without hesitating “mine” I replied and we hurried back to the car.
