To join or not to join that is the question

I've been on the site and little over a week. I made a point of completing my profile and uploading some pictures .  Very quickly I started getting views and messages. was this a set up by the site or genuine enquires? I have no way of telling not being a full member. I'm a little suspicious because of the number and speed they arrived.

Can  anyone tell me if this is normal and genuine
