Automated Messages Good or Bad?

Well seems like I am popular with the automated messaging system...But does that actually promote conversation or is it more of a waste of time?

So I have customised my automated messages that "allegedly" I send out. When I first started I was very surprised that I have all these messages (I'm certainly no Tom Cruise, but I am taller.) but now they irritate me more than anything else especially the generic messages.

Thinking back all the responses I have had back has been down to me writing something individual to that person.
