Music and Musings: Stay with Me

1:26 pm Thursday, 9th October, 2014

Guess it's true, I'm not good at a one-night stand
But I still need love 'cause I'm just a man
These nights never seem to go to plan
I don't want you to leave, will you hold my hand?

Oh, won't you stay with me?
'Cause you're all I need
This ain't love, it's clear to see
But darling, stay with me

I find the lyrics fitting considering that this site is all about hook ups. The lilting crescendo of Sam Smith's husky voice gives an almost pleading vibe that compliments the words beautifully. It is a song as much as it is a prayer. The solemnity of the situation is not entirely lost on me.

I'm sure things get messy sometimes as it usually does when intimate encounters are prevalent and are a dime a dozen. Soft touches can be mistaken for a lot more than what one bargained for. Sensual kisses may be hyped and looked into as taking things to the next level. But sadly, that just isn't the case for most people who are inclined to an NSA set up.

When you meet a sexual match, your senses are heightened and you experience wonder in the novelty of it all. You become enthralled and you get lost in amazing orgasmic proportions even though you're wide awake. When that happens, you need a hand to hold to help you rise from that epic fall you threw yourself from.

I can no longer count the times when I rushed to a "pity party" during ungodly hours just to get drunk while coming to a friend's aid because said friend went ahead and "fell" for someone who's just supposed to be a booty call. But the heart knows what the mind doesn't. No matter how many times you try to make people remember that in cases like these, whoever "falls in love" first is the one risking the most (or if you're a bunch of players, whoever falls first loses---all semantics, lol), they still end up jumping off the cliff without any notion if they'll land with both feel firmly on the ground. No indeed. Most people choose to go splat like an unattractive piece of ham that met its untimely demise on the paved sidewalk. But I digress.

This song is a harmonic wake up call to the harsh reality of hook ups, if there is such a thing. Before you get delusional and say you're in love, be sure to ask yourself what you know of the person apart from the things you picked up during your pillow talks. It takes a lot more than several multiple orgasms to affiliate such a strong word with something that's supposed to just help ease some sexual tension.

It's not always love. It's the other "L" word. Longing. Whatever for, it's up to you to figure out. But that wraps up my thoughts whenever I listen to Sam croon about someone staying. I get it, I really do :-)

So true and so beautifully put.. That's why I fall in love with a song rather than the moment.. Mine song to come back from that is.. Ur voice is so pretty ur face is a work of art ur smile can light up New York after dark.. But it's such a pity ... Such a pity.. uve got an ugly heart ..and that's where I pride myslf .. I've never turn my heart ugly on someone just because they couldn't give me what I want.. Bt the head did wanna do a few stake outs n tell how it is.. Loser :0
