After watching a couple of Animal Planet programmes yesterday, it suddenly dawned on me that this 'thing' (that's a technical term) we're all doing here may not be about sex after all.
It's a game of chase ...
When it comes to women, some guys seem to prefer the thrill of the chase (the hunt) rather than the reward of a sexual encounter that may follow. Shocking, I know!
Now I realise that my hypothesis could equally apply to women, but according to scientific research on wild beasts of Africa and Asia, it seems there are many typical male mating and hunting behaviours that indicate more value is placed on a kill that was considered 'out of reach' and therefore hard to catch. The thrill was in the hunt ... the chase.
Guys, this kind of explains some of your weird behaviour. It's not your fault, it's in your DNA (apparently) and your inner hunter demands it. You find the experience of the hunt and the real chase more of a thrill than the catch itself and you are motivated to face difficult odds in order to seduce and 'catch your prey'.
So what does your inner hunter do once you have caught your prey, especially after you have had a chance to munch on it for a while? Well, here's the thing, it was the chase (the hunt) that satisfied you and you will simply, naturally and without malice go a hunting the next day; move on to the next chase in order to once again feel fulfilled. Accept the fact that without this action your inner hunter will languish and die.
I could be wrong, after all, I'm no scientist, but remember ladies, guys may tell us they prefer blondes or brunettes in mini skirts, big boobies and curves, or according to a recent blog, fit athletic types with abs dressed in tight Lycra, but the reality is they don't really care. Not one little bit.
Their hunt is triggered by a challenge and ANYTHING that looks like prey and moves like prey. Don't make it easy for them, you need to keep moving ...
... put on your trainers and run for your flippin' lives!!

I'm not fit enough to catch anything... Usually out of breath in the first couple of strides as the Gazelle bounds gracefully away into the undergrowth.... |

Chasing? That smacks of proper effort, and is why the good lord invented landrovers and shotguns... |

I have to admit that (metaphorically) munching on new flesh is indeed thrilling, but surely females feel that way too. I tend to get a little irritated at the dogma that the lion's share (no pun intended) of the mating game is the male's responsibility. We are modern humans after all, and I would expect any woman with a modicum of intelligence to be moderately proactive in reciprocating her desire. |

Luv2, Whilst i accept your observations about the male species, and the need to hunt their prey, i am still of a mind that the hunt is almost totally controlled by the female. My reason for this view is, firstly it is the females that puts herself in to the eyesight of the male to be sure she is noticed, It is also she that ensures he is drawn to her by dressing atractively. Secondly, she very quickly decides whether she will, as you suggested, put her trainers on and run for her life, or to scamper away relatively slowly in her heels wiggling as only she can!! lol, Even in a number of examples i can recall, she has been known to roll over on her back and wait for her tummy to be tickled. Ring any bells Luv2? lol. Not quite the innocent party you may have suggested? lol |

DrZook, "Chasing? That smacks of proper effort." Indeed it does, but the question is, is it worth the effort and is it something that males do as a natural instinct? In other words, males really can't help themselves. |

Swinggo, you are right; we're not all innocent. As a matter of fact, I often wonder if I have a little of the male 'hunting' gene myself. Whilst I have always been honest about my flirtatious nature, I never hide my interest when I have tasty prey in sight. I can be quite the huntress ... |

Luv2, i am not sure that we always go hunting for a fresh kill when we have tasted the one we have snared!!! . I think the dilemma we are faced with, is similar to the kiddie at the ice cream store!!. How do you know which one tastes best until you have tried them all? |

Luv2: I think I'm probably one of those weaker lions to which you refer :-) Even when I was in my 20s, I thought that many of our human mating rituals were a bit daft and a waste of energy, whereas patience, guile and creativity were more likely to yield results. Now that I'm in middle age, cost-effectiveness in terms of energyeffort expended is even more important :-) My present strategy seems to have worked well over the last decade, and for a "weaker lion" who has acquired a "mini-pride" of "B-grade lionesses", perhaps my level of motivation on this site is not as frenetic as that of some of the "alpha males" amongst us :-) If I wait long enough, another lazy lioness eventually emerges from the savannah, and she's usually the type that's interested in recreational pleasure rather than raising cubs :-) |

For the avoidance of any doubt, i'm not having a dig at men here. Luv y'all too much for that :-) , but you do have to admit (don't you?) that some of the hunter characteristics are consistent with the nature of this site. It is a sex site after all. |

One also needs to be sure what it is you're chasing, especially somewhere like this. There you are thinking you've done a cracking job on pursuing and catching a nice tasty zebra, and when you come to take the first bite find it's actually the wrong end of a lame hipper potter mouse...or even worse a male one! |

After you've tried all the different flavours of Ice Cream don't you find that there is always one you keep coming back to. You may want to try them all but everyone has a favourite and the novelty of new tastes eventually becomes boring and the safe guaranteed pleasure of the Rum & Raisin seems far more appealing.... |

As an unreconstructed "chaser" (I refrain from going so far as to say hunter in case I sound like a certain gym-queen) I feel the need to not so much defend my position as at least offer a perspective. |

Luv2: Far from it. Merely expressing in an alternative way what was implied in your post, i.e. that the lionesses I tend to attract are more likely to appreciate a languid and very filling rut without more of a do and all that attendant fuss and wasted energy :-) After all, as I've freely admitted that I'm not in the testosterone premier league, that's as good as I deserve, right? :-) |

When it comes to women I have never been perceptive, I have never realised when I am subtly being come on to and tended to mistake friendly chat as sexual interest. I have therefore had my fair share of embarrassment asking women out who have then looked shocked at the mere suggestion and adversely had quite a few surprizes when people have told me years later about missed opportunities. |

Skebbie I'm not suggesting people don't have standards but as I've got older my priorities have changed. I don't run around chasing the unattainable. I'd rather go for personality than looks these days but I do like women who take pride in their appearance. Given the opportunity with someone willing I'd rather be more direct and get down to having fun rather than play mind games. |
