I was going to write a blog about the amazing sex I've been having, but then I thought "nah ... who'd be interested in reading that?" It's far too hot to be thinking about sex, isn't it? ;-)
It was another warm and sunny day here and I know I shouldn't complain, but once again I found it so flippin' impossible to keep cool and look ok, ya know because apparently it's frowned upon to wear shorts, tee-shirts and flip flops to work :-)
The stripped down truth:
The skin ...
This healthy glow I currently have is not because I've been sun bathing. It's the direct result of a new self-tanner that I bought at the weekend. The outrageously expensive tube promised me "a sun-kissed glow". After exfoliating my skin to within an inch of its life and applying it before I went to bed last night (as per written instructions), I was looking forward to fooling people into thinking that I've been holidaying in St Tropez. See, those I was chatting to in the hot tub last night had no idea that whilst having a natter (it was fun by the way), I was also recovering from the exhausting exercise of applying 'liberal but even' amounts of the stuff all over my legs and arms. Let me tell you that it developed overnight into a nice orange colour that makes me look like I’ve been rolling around in a bag of Doritos. Oh yes, I’m thrilled that I woke up this morning to find my skin shade of 'Oompa Loompa'.
The clothes ...
I left three discarded outfits on the bed this morning because they made me look
a) too fat;
b) too desperate;
c) too old;
d) too fat (yeah, so true I said it twice).
In a mild state of shock, panic and anticipation over the coming humiliation (remember I look like I've been tango'd), I opted for an oatmeal coloured linen dress that I usually avoid because it makes my complexion look like porridge, but today I hoped it would mitigate the effect of my self-tan ... It didn't, but thankfully my M&S natural coloured hold-ups (highly recommend ladies) covered up the streaks of orange that are now my knees.
Just a pity the long drive to work resulted in my backside being contoured in crumpled linen for the rest of the day; so not a good look.
The hair ...
I couldn't do a thing with it. It was flatter than flat and to avoid looking like Morticia Adams (with a tan), I had to spend 20 minutes teasing it with a comb to achieve a style that would make Peggy Bundy proud. I shouldn't have bothered though because by the time I got to work, It had developed that tres frizz look.
I really should have stayed in bed.
Anyhoos, now busy applying for a permit to work somewhere much cooler next summer. Those Eskimo women have it so easy.

Wb Luv2! Never gone for the orange look but can naturally perfect either the "bright white, doesn't look like I've seen the sun and have been hiding in a darkened room look" or the "first sight of summer, turn scarlet like a lobster with a fever look". There is no middle ground between these 2 high fashion statements and they will fade from 1 to other with a couple of days notice.... |

If a did't look like an escapee from a mental istitution i would shave my hair off, as my hair goes fuzzy & curly in the warm weather when i get hot & bothered ;-) |

I really don't get fake tan!?! I never have... It so seldom looks natural, so why bother! I much prefer natural colour, be that from a natural tan, or pale skin, if the sun isn't for you.

Of course everything is relative. I saw on the news it was a bracing 23 degrees at Wimbledon yesterday. Compare that with 36 degrees plus and 80% humidity in Tokyo in late July. I suspect you'd be leaving a glistening orange trail along the pavement under those conditions, so bear up - it could be worse :-) |

Dear Luv2Suc, your latest epistle made me chuckle.I have to agree with the sentiments expressed by Chris ( I'm still waiting for the invitation to get naked with her and sip Tinto De Verano in the shade of a palm tree ). |

I'm thinking 'pumpkin' would be more appropriate for colour and shape. Why oh why did I think it was a good idea to try to apply it to my backside? What possessed me? |

Skebbie, I'd have to find a cave to hide in with those conditions. Not sure I could cope with living, working and daily routine etc. What is the Japanese secret for keeping cool? They never look hot and sticky on TV :-) |

Luv2: The opposite side of the coin is that I've become acclimated to Japan over the years, so I'm always astonished at the site of blokes in the UK stripping off or walking around in shorts when it's about 18 degrees and I've got my long johns on. |

Well its about fucking time that's all I can say, some of us readers were thinking we'd been tossed aside like yesterday's dirty washing, left in a crumpled heap in the laundry basket of discontent. Build up a following and then cast them adrift, L2 you can be so cruel but we welcome you back to the blogosphere with open arms and lets say no more about it just don't do it again. |

I bet it does StarGirl x I tan fairly easily, but never sunbathe. I'm always out at weekends but usually covered in jeans and wellie boots so skin hardly ever catches the sun. My face is always an odd shade to the rest of me :-0
