Hi, HC. I see your points in all you write. This IS a sex site, of course it is.

The thing I've come to find here is that most of us do NOT have what you appear to have, which is a happy home life, and come here to find that little extra, be it sex for fun, sex for comfort, or maybe just a bit of fun to distract ourselves from the daily grind that is an unhappy life.

I think the biggest thing to point out is that we truly are all here for our own reasons, incomprehensible as some of them may seem. Still, what I have found to be the best part of a site like this is the (mostly) nonjudgemental attitudes of the people I've come to know as I explore and have a bit of fun.

It's a bit crazy to give a place like this so much credit in this way, but I've heard from many that as a result of being here, they've found more confidence in themselves. Not that this is the place we come to to find it, it just happens along the way.

So we don't blog about all the great sex we're having...doesn't mean it doesn't happen, just that some are more private about it and prefer to writecomment about other things.

For myself, the biggest gripes I have about the people on the site are those who judge and those who assume I'm here for the exact same reasons as they are.

We are all different (some us a bit much, true) and here for our own reasons. Speaking in a general way, just as there's nothing wrong with your story, there's nothing wrong with mine.

Very very true, and I know what you're referring to. There is a time and place for everything, and this is not, as you put it, a group therapy session for those damaged by the wreck and ruin of life.

Still, I for one don't care to hear all the details of everyone's sex life, to me it's boring. I'd rather have a bit of fun discussion here, debate and something that makes me think a little bit (not in a deep sense by any means). And just to address one more point for the final time EG, I have not always had a happy home life, far , far from it, which I will quite happily go into if you pm me, but what I find totally incomprehensable, is that there are people on here, who claim to be emotionally, physically, mentally, sexually abused some to the point of almost suicide, and some say they continue to be, yet why on earth would you then seek out a sex site?... Horny: Although you and I got off on the wrong foot when I first took the plunge here, I have to admit that I've warmed to you. I think it took me a while to adjust to various bloggers' styles and sensitivities, and I was just bouncing my Tonka-toy off people to see how they'd react. The last few months have been an education in interacting through the written word with people who are total strangers, but who now seem much more palpable.

I do think this is a valuable medium for sounding out ideas and opinions, but as some of you have already said above, I don't think this is the right place for people who are hurting. Such people need to confide in friends face-to-face, ideally over a few drinks in the real world. They need intimate reassurance and a friendly ear. This is indeed not some circus or freak show a la Jeremy Kyle where people can expect to get a sympathetic reception if they choose to air their dirty washing.

Contrary to what many might think, I'm not a cold-hearted cynical bastard. However, I do like a friendly argument, in a humorous vein if possible, and perhaps my attitude may seem too flippant and facetious for those who are expecting deep and meaningful answers (even though by nature I'm a very serious person - so perhaps this is an outlet for my more mischievous alter ego). Like some of you, I tend to avoid blogs with a certain type of content, not only through lack of interest, but also lack of relevance. I even wrote a blog about this topic a few months back. People are free to air what they wish, of course, just as we are free to decide whether something is worth reading or commenting about. I'm actually pretty discreet about my own personal private life, including sexual aspects (apart from what's on my media, of course), and although this is a sex site, I think it's rather bad taste for people to give lurid blow-by-blow descriptions of sexual encounters. To be honest, I find those kinds of blogs a total bore. I'd have thought if someone is lucky enough to have a really good sexual encounter, that would be something to savour privately. Why shout it from the rooftops? Similarly, I personally would not air my personal problems in a blog, and I suppose this is why I have zero tolerance for those who choose to do so: usually I just walk on by. In that respect I'm just adopting the same attitude that I would expect from others if I started bleating or bragging myself :-)

This is a good topic, and I think it's offered a timely opportunity for people to put themselves on the record.
