Today is my first day in TAGWORLD welcome to my blog or my home page. I have a question for everyone who visit me. How did you find time in your busy day to sit down to your computer and chat with all these nice people? I am a 59 year old working stiff. Born in Bangor Maine April 26, 1947. I only live there for a 2 years befor the family moved to LEVITTOWN NY. any one from LEVITTOWN? I first went to summit lane school then into Division Ave High School . My graduation was in June 1966 On July 4th,1966 I join the US Army went over to Vietnam for 3 years. I also went to Fort Lee Va to the army cook & baker school. So when I was cooking in the army I was never on the front line but very near to it, you could hear the action going on every day & night. When coming back ti the USA I worked for Howard Johnson Resturant as a breakfast cook till Sept when I went to {C.I.A.} cooking school for 2 yrs . My first job out of cooking school was a jewish summer camp in NY camp Greylock. I then went to Chicago to the Moody Bible School to work in the food service dept. In the middle of my employment I went to the IvoryvCoast in Africa to teach the national people how to cook for american children in american school. This took one year. On may way back to the USA I stop in Europe for 2 weeks then home to Chicago. While I was there I got a phone call asking me to come to work with children in a summer camp in Maryland. They have heard alot about me and How I enjoy working in food service. they pay my airfare. so I went to work for the summer. But after the summer they said they would going to reduce my work hours and pay. This is the first time I said no thanks and gave my two week notice with no plans for a another job in mind. You could do that in the late 70 s. I went home to LEVITTOWN NY . while visiting my grand parnets in CONN I saw a job listed in the newspaper for a cooks job for a BLIND school for children. So I work there for 10 years during that time I was also help with the homeless and join the Board of Directors of the OPEN HEARTH MISSION in Hartford ct. while I was working in the blind school I fell in love with this special ED TEACHER and we got married for 18 yrs till she past away 5 yrs ago. The open Hearth needed a food service manger so I left the blind school after 10 years I worked as a Food Manger for 15 years in the OPEN HEARTH. during thoes years my mother & father retirement and went to BOISE ID After my father past away it has been over 10 yrs now My brother calls from Texas to my mothers and tells her to moved to TEXAS so she moved to TEXAS and after about 6 months she call me in CONN and tells me to moved to TEXAS so thats How I got down the big state of TEXAS
