What have you got against hair?

4:21 pm Thursday, 14th May, 2015

I had part of my chest shaved this week. Nothing to do with increasing my attractiveness however. I underwent a stress test on my heart and the nurse needed to attach sensors to bits of me. And if you’ve ever taken a look at my profile pictures, you’ll know how hairy my chest is. (Don’t worry, dear readers, there’s nothing wrong with me; it’s just time to renew my gym membership, and they require confirmation that I’m fit enough to use the equipment, hence the test.)

My point is, though, that now that the shaved patches are growing back, it itches like hell. I spend half my time with my hand up my shirt having a good scratch. Not a great look when you work in an office. So this got me thinking about what you all you smooth-skinned male swingers must go through to get the hairless look you require.

I find it hard enough keeping my face shaven, so quite how you guys deal with the unwanted hair on your chest, back, arms and legs is a complete mystery to me. And then there are pubes. OK, I can see the attraction in a pube-free crotch, but shaving your balls too? Taking a razor to my scrotum would have me trembling. I’m already circumcised; I don’t want to lose anything else from down there.

So how do you do it, and, more importantly, why? Sure, the initial smoothness and softness of the skin straight after shaving is nice, but how do you maintain this over time? To keep my face free of stubble, I have to shave every day. But I don’t. First, because I’m too lazy; second because it makes my skin sore to do so. So every other day I’m stubbly. Assuming most hair grows at the same rate, do you need to shave all over every two days? That’s quite a commitment. Don’t you get red and sore? And what about nicks and cuts? There’s also the fact that shaven hair grows back more thickly.

But getting back to sex for a moment, I think I actually prefer my male partners to be naturally hairy. I really don’t mind a little fur on a man, as long as it’s not too thick and not too prevalent. I actually like my nose to be tickled by the hair on the chest that I’m kissing, especially around the nipple. After all, who among us doesn't enjoy a nuzzle? As I flit around the profiles on this site, and see more and more shaven men I wonder whether there might be some kind of peer pressure to remain smooth. Is there even a peer group of shaved men? I think there might be, and I’m going to call them the “shavers”.

Now, obviously the labels gay, bi, TV/TS/CD, and so on are merely overarching terms that include many different streams of sexual behaviour. For the sake of argument, let’s assume that these terms represent (some of) the “mainstream” trends within the swinging world. Within these trends are mini-trends: for example, young gay guys looking for older men, bi guys who want one-on-ones, guys who want threesomes, cross-dressers who go out dressed and those who don’t, and so on. In addition, we have groups that are defined by other sorts of activities: top/bottom, dom/sub, bare back, and so on. So my question is really this: given the prevalence of the shaven community, would it be reasonable to recognise shaving as a specific genre within the male homosexual oeuvre? I ask this in all seriousness since I share many tastes with the shaving fraternity, just not this one. Nevertheless, if there were a “Shavers” chat room, I’m sure I would be in it as often as I’m in the Bi-males and TV/TS/CD rooms.

I look forward to comments from anyone in the shaven community. For the time being at least, I’ll keep my hair on.
