For what it's worth, I always found the term "wife swapping" amusingly outdated (very "60s" :-) and sexist: as if wives are mere chattels to be bartered. I almost have the feeling, husband are more willing to see their wives with other men, but women are not very willing to see their men with other women.

I do agree that the couple must have a very good basis to decide for this path. I am not saying I would never consider it but I think it is a decision that surely belongs to two people and to reach that concensus must be the tricky part.
