The terminology "Blue film"
I grew up to hear the term, and am sure it was in existence way before my time. In Ghana and am sure in Africa am sure in those days hardly will anyone hear the term porno or porn, rather you will hear blue film. The subject just crossed my mind, who birthed that term and why at all is adult movie called "blue film".

I'm sure that historically in the UK the censor was supposed to use a blue pencil pen to strike out the disallowed words.... so a naughty joke was a "blue joke", censorship for stage shows continued into at least the 1960's. sure someone will point out if that's wrong :( |
