Chat rooms - waste of time?

9:01 pm Sunday, 16th November, 2014

Why or why are they so flipping confusing? I just spent no more than a couple of minutes browsing and the messages were all flying up the screen so fast I couldn't keep track other than seeing that, as soon as a vaguely female member popped up, a bunch of blokes spammed them

Well, I do go to the chat...and it was my impression many thought bloggers were not bothered to go there....Now I wonder why? .....I find rather interesting people for sure (being polite here) and I laugh a lot at them...but I have also chatted with amazing people who are just so witty...Perhaps, time matters? Someone told me today, never go from 8 pm to 11 pm....Well considering time here, I could not...:)

There does seem to be an attitude of them and us between bloggers & chatters, with only a few of us straddling both mediums.
Both have their own attractions. In blogs you can delve into discussions in more depth and take your time to construct a good answer to previous posts, you also get time to read everyones reply and watch how the blog develops (usually veering off into food or naughty steps).
In chat you have to be much faster...... Quick, short, sharp answers with very little time to think and compose a reply. It does take a while to get used to but stick with it, the time taken to get used to it will be well worth it.

If only we had someone posting a top tip on how to get the hang of it? ....... FUNTIMES WHERE ARE YOU???

I treat chat like a (ahem)cocktail party - you hold a bit of a conversation with folks nearby then break off and drift over to engage with someone else and so -on. If the conversation is a good one then I linger, and sometimes I just stand on the sidelines and watch and listen.

That said only rarely pm - I much prefer to chat in the main room. I do understand that ladies get somewhat inundated with unwanted pms but that does not seem to be such an issue for me (although it does happen!)

I used to say that chat was just chat - and no adventures would transpire as a result, but more latterly I know that not to be true. like blogging it is a nice way to see who is, or is not, on one's wavelength, and, as a result, whether things might go a little further.

Sorry for mentioning straddling Gilli... I won't mention straddling again. If the thought of straddling has stopped you concentrating today I apologise and we will agree that the topic of straddling we not be brought up again.
So that's agreed no more mentions of straddling! Hope this puts your mind at rest Gilli....

I think the PM problem is mainly a female burden but hope that chat is still a positive experience despite of the annoyance.
