So would you try it?

3:38 pm Tuesday, 24th June, 2014

A colleague and I have been discussing opening our own "adults club" but with a difference. We would create a private members club which included a medical room from which we would offer routine STD screening and treatment. Both of us are registered medical practitioners and all advice and testing would conform to all confidential requirements of a standard NHS clinic.

Our question is would anyone actually be interested in such a service within a club environment?

Please note we are not seeking to encourage unsafe sexual practices but do wonder if within this lifestyle people don't seek advice and treatment early enough. Interestingly the incidence rate for STD's within the 40-60 age group is rising faster than any other, hard not to think that this can't be coincidence.

I'd definitely like to hear from members on this subject

Taking care of ones own sexual well being is always of the utmost importance. Though "Adult Clubs" are not personally my thing but if they were i think an onsite clinic would be a good idea. But would probably still go for check up a few days after the fact just to be doubly sure.

I know nothing about the club scene really, but that aside, it sounds like a great idea to me.. ;)

Suddenly reminded of Coronation Street Gail Platt's "Trust me I'm a pilot" episode.
Not sure I could ever trust a doctor that has a surgery in a sex club (not that I've ever been to one). I'd probably think it's some kind of fetish room and wonder where the hidden cameras are.

I think you are right about middle agers not being sufficiently careful about STDs. I suspect there's a mindset among them that considers Chlamydia etc. being the sole preserve of the young. I also think there's a case for making regular STD testing quicker, easier and more accessible, so offering such a service within the context of the "lifestyle" can only be a good thing in my opinion.
