What's In A Voice........

12:55 pm Sunday, 18th May, 2014

We tap out our conversation, parting with more & more snippets of info about our real self our life outside the confines of the Hub. Do you start to build a mental image of the person behind the profiles that you read or from the blog they may write or comments they may leave on others or the chat room chatter or sneaky PMs.

At some point you may exchange pics to add to the info gleaned, so the image of the person in the minds eye gets bigger/clearer. Our mind slotting all the pieces into the correct place Somewhat like building a jigsaw, don't you think.

Do you give any thought as to what the person you have been getting to know sounds like or what does the voice tell you about a person. I wonder?

What type/sound of voice would you add to the image in your mind. The next peice of the jigsaw you have been building. Will it be deep, gruff & growly or soft, gentle and high pitched. Do you imagine them to be polite or rough & ready?

Eventually the time will come for you to hear "the Voice" the true, real voice. Will it fit the image of your own creation or will it be the total opposite to what you had imagined. Would It be a deal breaker, would it put/turn you off in some way if it were entirely different form "the voice" you had created in your imagination?

Hmm maybe this doesn't make any sense to anyone but me...
But i shall admit that i do form an image in my mind and i also add "the Voice". Do you?

What's In A Voice....?

I'd be surprised if people don't start building mental images of others the moment they start interacting. That could be by how they act, personality or even their face if its not visible. The voice is definitely something I imagine. Surely it's impossible not to wonder these things?

I've wondered about the voice of loads of people here. Who knows if my thoughts are correct? Maybe I'll find out, maybe not. You build a mental image through the style of blogs and how they chat (if they chat). Add to that the location and bingo you've created an impression of a voice. Probably 99% of which are totally wrong!

Can't imagine it would be a deal breaker... Well only if they sound like they'd be gargling with a bag of gravel or were related to Joe Pasquale...

4:21 pm Sunday, 18th May, 2014

You missed out Orvill Joe, though he is rather cute but don't think his voice would help to add heat to the flames of passion.

Doris i know what you mean but i prefer being compared to lorraine Kelly than the Krankies or Rab C lol.

4:35 pm Sunday, 18th May, 2014

MissG i am shy and the worst fear for me when i chat to someone for the first time is awkward silence so nerves get the better of me and i chatter probably like a babbling fool lol,

Sorry to those few people who have put up with my nervous chatter.Though someone put me at ease recently and i enjoyed chatting with them....by the end of the conversation i had even managed to let them have some input as my nerves calmed down.
Got to say their voice sounded just like i had imagined ;-)

5:51 pm Sunday, 18th May, 2014

Jeezo Frisky I am nervous at the best of times now it will be in the back of my mind how cringe worthy my voice sounds img src="imagesadultemoticons026.gif"

6:20 pm Sunday, 18th May, 2014

Ronald you should have taken i a packet of joketrick sweets, the ones that set your mouth on fire or dye your mouth & teeth bright blue that would have been a little pay back :-)

6:24 pm Sunday, 18th May, 2014

Good topic sunshine.

JustCallMeDoris, abject apologies, but couldn't stop giggling when I read your opening line of, 'I love to hear people's voices' My twisted mind thought of 'Doris stokes' the clairvoyant, and what the hell was she doing on an adult site? Lol.

I think if this site has taught me anything, it's to expect the unexpected to the largest degree possible! To that end I try not to form any preconceived ideas on any aspect, as the vast swathes of people I've met from here, (ahem, yeah right!!!) have always been different to what I expected!

6:33 pm Sunday, 18th May, 2014

I would never get a job on one of these telephone sex lines. I sound like a fishwife.

6:37 pm Sunday, 18th May, 2014

Ah but you have your not so secret weapon MYS, your deep rumbling growly Grrrrr sexy "morning voice" ;-)

6:48 pm Sunday, 18th May, 2014

Goodness me, i am blushing and flushed with embarrassment!! Luv2 i only friendly chatting not sex chatting. Oh and i certainly don't imagine for one moment that you sound in anyway remotely like a fishwife.x

7:59 pm Sunday, 18th May, 2014

Maybe that's where I'm going wrong SunShine. Sounding like a green duck never seems to be that much of an attraction to others .... Oh well!

Heard the Hot Fishwife call centre is looking for employees Luv2 ... There's a fetish for everyone ;)except Parma Violets, sorry Ron....

9:06 pm Sunday, 18th May, 2014

Very interesting point Sunshine and one I hadn't given much thought to. I have always thought people really talk with their eyes but it requires a face to face to read it properly, if the eyes smile at you then all is well, at least till they speak and then you can decide if you want to continue talking to someone who maybe sounds like donald duck or worse. Having a face made for radio if someone doesn't then like my voice I'm gonna be totally scunnered lol.On a slight tangent, does an accent play any part in peoples perception of the other person, even before they have spoken??

10:55 pm Sunday, 18th May, 2014

Holy Moly Joe i wasn't suggesting that you were a green duck or that you sound anything like one lol Although thats do to say that you don't somewhat share some or Orvills cuteness ;-)

Roger i do tend to believe the eyes are the window to our soul. But the voice can give away so many clues about a person with regards to their sex, age, mood, education, intelligence, integrity and in some cases if they are being truthfulrealistic.

Now accent is a whole different ball game, Mmmm the actor Sam Elliot (Samuuel Pack) his voice i could listen 247 although not sure if it's his accent thats the attraction or just "the Voice"

11:01 pm Sunday, 18th May, 2014

Bet i can guess the voice that has been making your heart skip a beat and the person making you smile Star.x

Gilli that is the thing about a voice it makes the person seem more real brings them more to life somehow and that for me tranfers, so that when i then read a message from a person who's voice i have heard i can hear their voice in my head as i read. :-)

11:10 pm Sunday, 18th May, 2014

Last blog entry in UK for a while (probably).....

Part of my "research" before meeting involves voice contact - because I agree it is very important. They say eyes are the mirrors of the soul, but the voice (and one's "phone persona") speak volumes too. If anyone is prepared to talk on top of e-mailing, and I'm happy that they sound sane (haha....), then the door is open.

11:52 pm Sunday, 18th May, 2014

Hmm half my blog seems to have vanished 8-( Rather odd!!!!!

Being sane is alwasy a bug plus Skebbie lol ;-)
Wishing you have a very safe flight Sukebe.x

11:56 pm Sunday, 18th May, 2014

Ooops Big plus even lol

12:17 am Monday, 19th May, 2014

Pft they should maybe brush up on English then Suechris.x :-(

2:17 am Monday, 19th May, 2014

Nice blog I can hear u whispering in my ear harder harder faster .yes mamm any thing u say img src="imagesadultemoticons030.gif"

6:44 am Monday, 19th May, 2014

Think Shyboy is right. It's also about breaking down barriers slowly. Speaking to someone before meeting them releases a little bit of the pressure and creates a bit of rapport between people rather than diving in straight at the deep end.

Maybe it also reveals the real person as well. You have to give immediate responses on the phone rather than carefully considered replies either on blogs or in chat. There's no hiding you thoughts when talking unless you enjoy very long, slow silent pauses...

And some accents can be oh so very sexy ;)

9:28 am Monday, 19th May, 2014

Hello Sunshine.I would like to respond to your question in two ways.Firstly, in my normal speaking voice then secondly, in a silly high-pitched whine interjected with ridiculous burping and farting noises.
Most important is what people say,not how they say it.I must admit a weakness for " posh tottie " voices like Joanna Lumley's or Diana Riggs bur national and regional accents are very attractive too.I like Nerys Hughes Welsh lilt for example or Kirsty Wark's or Gloria Hunniford's dialect plus Scouse,Geordie, West Country and the rest.
However,it is the content of what one says, which is the most attractive thing, providing of course ,they are not murdering the language in doing so. xx

9:56 am Monday, 19th May, 2014

Got to agree ShyB that i could't jump straight into a meet without having established some rapport and i think we do pick up lots from a persons choice of words as well as the tone & also the speed at which they converse.

On further thought i have to say that slow, dull, flat, lifeless monotone voices don't quite hit the spot for me. hmm could this be because without tone or the rise & fall in pitch and lacking any expression it is difficult to feel or sense clues about the person speaking...

10:46 am Monday, 19th May, 2014

Jeezo Joe you know me, i am not even good at holdinghiding my thoughts even in written words and there never seems to be many long silent pauses in my conversations, once i feel comfortable with the person i'm chatting to (i am a self confessed Blether.

11:18 am Monday, 19th May, 2014

I'm sure there is an opening in the market for the Sassy sparra chat line ;-)

Hmm Wilf you have given me another question to ponder, are people who are born deaf able to imagine the sound of someones voice in their minds?

Ah Fetch now i have a question for you, do theatricalactor types ever act when dare i say dating or do they take the mask off and just be their true self?

12:42 pm Monday, 19th May, 2014

Ah but for you Ronald i would make an exception, as i am sure so would others as we all like you.x :-)

12:46 pm Monday, 19th May, 2014

That's a good question Sunshine,it depends upon whether the lady in question is putting you through an audition for a major role, or not.
Seriously, it is a relief to show one's true personna, especially if one hitherto, has been concentrating on a strong character role, which has to a degree, taken you over.
I'm not sure anyway, if you would find eponymous character of Shakespeare's Scottish play ( never mention the name ) sexy and attractive, img src="imagesadultemoticons026.gif"

12:55 pm Monday, 19th May, 2014

Sensuals no thanks required, you helped me along the road as it was an idea i had been mulling over for quite some time.x
We all feed off each other and it is the people commenting that makes a blog, not the person who posted it (well that's what i think anyway).x ;-)

1:46 pm Monday, 19th May, 2014

Thank you Fetch, my reason for posing the question was i did hear that a demanding role can take over and totally consume the actoractress so i just wondered if it was easy to step out of the character. Hmm well now as it happens i am rather a lover of the "Arts" fetch. :-)

Sorry Fetch Nosy me is curious to know if there is any truth to the use of supposed "clensing rituals" to be performed when the true name of the play is spoken in a theatre?

2:21 pm Monday, 19th May, 2014

Forgot to add my mind has now attached a shakespeare esque voice to your comments as i read them Fetch lol

4:05 pm Monday, 19th May, 2014

Fetch, the posh totty... Joanna Lumley, Kristin Scott-Thomas etc accents are very attractive as are those of French actresses but are they just attractive because it makes up the complete package? And would they still be attractive if they spoke with a cockney accent or any other one?

Where do we buy shares Sassy? With the name of your chatline it can't fail to make a fortune!! ;)

7:49 pm Monday, 19th May, 2014

Sunshine. There are lots of superstitions associated with theatre,The Scottish play, whistling in dressing rooms, leaving lights on,behaviour at dress rehearsals ,to name but a few.The general way to break a curse is to leave the dressing room, spin round three times, swear loudly and then knock on the dressing room door to be re-admitted.Once back there to spit ( but not literally ) on the floor.
In answer to your other question, yes one sometimes has to immerse oneself completely in a character. When I played Tevye in " Fiddler on the Roof " I actually became a poor but devout Russian Jew.Apart from being physically demanding(the character is on stage for all but about 20 mins. with loads of dialogue and some big production numbers to sing )I found it played affected my emotions, dis-owning the youngest daughter, talking to God, being forced out of the home etc. It took me some while after,to recover from that.
My favorite ,personal ,good luck superstition ? Supper after a show with a nice chorus girl, then home to bed together img src="imagesadultemoticons016.gif"

8:12 pm Monday, 19th May, 2014

Oh Star, just a word of warning, BBWloving has had an Oral sex ban served on him for crimes against woman kind. You are expected to abide by the terms of the notice and enforce said ban. ;-)

8:23 pm Monday, 19th May, 2014

Thank you for satisfying my curiosity Fetch.x

Hmm on the subject of your personal, good luck superstition..... Not so sure but that sound more like a DAMN GOOD night rather than superstition ;-)

8:29 pm Monday, 19th May, 2014

Thanks everyone for your comments on this blog. As always you are a rather canny lot.xx :-)

8:59 pm Monday, 19th May, 2014

The only one befitting the occasionsituation SensualS.....
My Thankful, Grateful, Appreciative, Complimentary, Respectful, Happy, Bubbly, polite Scottish voice.x :-)

6:33 am Tuesday, 20th May, 2014

Just imagine if you could record your blog comments in your own voice then download them so that people could listen to them rather than read them ...... Now wouldn't that be interesting ;-)

If you're selling tour merchandise sassy I will have a t-shirt please!!

10:58 am Tuesday, 20th May, 2014

Before i address your question Joe i have to say something to
Sassy..... Damn woman your legs are hot! If your voice just happens to be half as hot as your pins the Sassy-Sparra chatline will make a mint.... :-)

Now my mind is imagining a very sexy voice when i read sassys words lol

12:24 pm Tuesday, 20th May, 2014

Joe i imagine it would be rather fun but.....what if we then disappoint some people or trash the sexy thought they may have had in their imagination as to what we sound like.

For instance in my mind i have attached a voice to quite a few of dare i say regulars ;-)

MissG.....Cathrine Zeta Jones esque

Luv2...Penelope Keith esque (to the manor born)

Ronald...Eeyore esque

Frisky...Rhys Ifans esque

That is only a small selection from my imagination, sorry if i cause any offence or upset. Feel free to set my mind straight ;-)

SOooo....Now you see Joe,you planted the thought of Orvill in my mind so untill i know different you will sound like that fluffy cute green duck in my mind as i read your words lol ;-)

2:03 pm Tuesday, 20th May, 2014

Although the timbre of my voice is dare I say, melifluous,I can do a pretty good Frankie Howerd , if that helps Missus.Oo Er,No No ? No.listen.listen ! Oh well suit yourselves then but don't take a vote on it !...and remember, it's wicked to mock the afflicted

2:11 pm Tuesday, 20th May, 2014

Goodness me, but of course before she added the fake American accent especially as there sure seems to be nothing fake about you MissG.x

2:19 pm Tuesday, 20th May, 2014

Fetch to be honest in my mind for some odd reason you seem to be rather sounding somewhat like Anthony Hopkins Hmm ;-)

4:12 pm Tuesday, 20th May, 2014

Sassy - Do you really have to ask?

Sunshine you've just destroyed any hope I had of fooling everyone into thinking I sound like Richard Burton.....

5:33 pm Tuesday, 20th May, 2014

Sunshine: Audrey fforbes-Hamilton ... really?
I'm not offended at all ;-)

Let's just say that I haven't got a typical regional accent and leave it at that ...

6:12 pm Tuesday, 20th May, 2014

Ooo Ronald an Ayrshire man,Realy?
So now i know you have a Damn Sexy Voice!! I have always had a soft spot for Eeyore... ;-)

Frisky why are you thanking god, your are only Rhys Ifans inside me lol

Luv2 you just had to be Lady of the Manor in my mind anyway ;-)

6:26 pm Tuesday, 20th May, 2014

Shhh it's ok joe i was only teasing, in my mind your voice is really Stephen Moyer esque (true blood) ;-)

EEeek(blushing) Frisky i did mean inside my mind, not inside me ;-)

Gilli glad to be of help lol, but as i have already said i think we all feed off each other.... ;-)

6:31 pm Tuesday, 20th May, 2014

MSG: sexy voice inside my mind for you with legs like yours.x

7:50 pm Tuesday, 20th May, 2014

Sunshine. I am of course, extremely flattered that you think I would have a voice akin to that great actor, Sir Anthony Hopkins but I think you may be a little confused.....had you said Hannibal Lector , I could have probably concurred with that.
My accent ( such as it is ) is all due to compulsory sports, cold showers, musty bedsheets, two hours prep every evening, innumerable detentions and regular damn good thrashings from the Headmaster. It made me the man I am today,God help me !

10:42 pm Tuesday, 20th May, 2014

Don't tell anyone SunShine but it's more of a cross between Brian Blessed and Ozzy Osbourne.... Shhhhh!

11:40 pm Tuesday, 20th May, 2014

Deary me Frisky, i shall try to wash my mind tonight and return with pure thoughts tomorrow lol

Whispers.....your secret is safe with me Joe ;-)

6:15 am Wednesday, 21st May, 2014

(Now back in Nippon)
If I said I had a Cumbrian accent that might give some of the game away - except that few people know what a Cumbrian accent is :-) It's one of those vaguely northern ones that few people can place (unlike say Geordie or Scouse). And Ronald is definitely Scots and not Cumbrian :-)

9:33 am Wednesday, 21st May, 2014

Kon'nichiwa Sukebe

Not that this will be of any help as to how a Cumbrian accent sounds, but wasn't Stan Laurel (Laurel & Hardy) from Cumbria? haha ;-)

11:03 am Wednesday, 21st May, 2014

Well it was Lancashire at the time, but yeah. Come to mention it, there *is* a vague resemblance :-)

3:06 pm Wednesday, 21st May, 2014

Hmm To be honest i can't quite answer your question Star. i will offer this as an explination...

" O wad some Power the giftie gie us
To see oursels as ithers see us! "..Robert Burns

I can neither see nor Hear myself as others do...You would have to ask someone who has had the pleasure or should that be misfortune of hearing my voice lol ;-)

9:52 pm Wednesday, 21st May, 2014

Claire Grogan.....*sigh* (drifts off into a million teenage dreams)

Guessing SunShine is a cross between Kirsty Young, Lorraine Kelly & Amy MacDonald with a hint of Robbie Coltrane a touch of Alex Ferguson... With laryngitis. Am I close or am I blethering?

11:14 pm Wednesday, 21st May, 2014

HMM i do hope you have drank too much coffee today Joe and that the Robbie Coltrane & Alex Ferguson addition to my imagined voice are a result to too much caffeine either that or i hope i am struck dumb ASAP ;-(

11:17 pm Wednesday, 21st May, 2014

oh you are a blether JOE lolol.;-)

1:57 am Thursday, 22nd May, 2014

Oh Lorraine talk dirty to me it's all in the voice

7:17 pm Thursday, 22nd May, 2014

AWwwwhhhh get you two, how romantic....

Hi SunshineGirll,

You are bang-on with your blog! So what is it about "the voice"?

For me, a voice is an important marker or milestone on the road to making a connection. It can make or break a connection almost instantly, unless you're part of the ANYBODY-will-do brigade!

If the eyes are a window to the soul, then the voice provides the soundtrack. Every voice is different and unique, and as such requires just as much attention. When it's good, it can be great; when it's bad, it can be awful!

Have you ever had a crush? A wee fancy for someone?? An incredible physical attraction to a face across a crowded room??? And as you rightly say in your blog, you instantly start to imagine the bits of that person that are yet unknown. We are, after all, a naturally curious species.

But have you ever been roundly disappointed, horrified even, when that "face" opens its mouth and emits the polar opposite to the dreamy voice you'd imagined or expected? Beam me up Scotty lol!

But when the opposite happens, or even better, when your expectations are exceeded? The warmth, the attraction, the tingle all increase tenfold!

For me, a voice subliminally goes through an internal checklist of sorts. Do I like it or not? Does this person come from a background that I identify with? Are the hairs on the back of my neck raised in excitement or revulsion? Is my pulse racing from anticipation or is it my "flight" response kicking in lol??

The right voice can make your pulse quicken, your breath shorten, your heart jump for joy. It can be calming, soothing and exciting; either separately or all at once. It can set the tone for the "box" that the mind puts the level of connection into: acquaintance, friend, lover, companion...or downright scary person!!

For me, the voice provides so much more besides. I don't like "messaging" or "texting" or "blogging" as flat-text is open to misinterpretation. The spoken word, especially spoken by an appealing voice lol, is so much
better and far less ambiguous. And can be thrilling, exhilarating, and downright sexy too!!

In the words of Carly Simon, "nobody does it better", especially if the mere sound of "the voice" can make your toes curl...

xx

11:32 pm Monday, 2nd June, 2014

The eyes may be the window to the soul.. but the voice certainly helps make a huge impression.

Accents are so prone to stereotypes.. which are - as expected - almost always not correct..

Additionally the funny thing about voices.. is how you perceive the sound of your OWN.

When I speak... and when I hear my voice played back via phone messages or some such... i sometimes cringe at my dulcet tones.. and hope that others do not hear.. what I hear!

6:40 pm Wednesday, 30th July, 2014

Well now i have to say though i love all-sorts of accents i must admit that i'm not so sure it is an accent alone that does it for me or rather that added to what the person is saying or how they say (not only confined to "Talking Dirty" it the ticks boxes for me. I have imagined what many members voices sound like ( my imagination running wild lately about someone's ) but sometimes it is lovely to be taken by surprise when the person sounds even sexier than i could ever imagine ;-)

9:03 am Thursday, 31st July, 2014

You can't have the fan yet ss. Still not cooled down enough yet! (Suspect it may take me a very long time) img src="imagesadultemoticons021.gif"

Is it you birthday MYS? If so make ready your super king size bed as i will be there in a jiffy ;-)

12:08 pm Saturday, 2nd August, 2014

Wilf, one needs staff to undertake menial household duties in order to preserve the condition of one's nails. I have a vacancy for a chamber maid if you are interested; the pay isn't great, but the in-kind benefits are a plenty.

7:32 pm Saturday, 2nd August, 2014

Luv2 can't believe any of your efforts ever lack rigour img src="imagesadultemoticons012.gif" !!! ;-) Have a good holiday fully refreshed and your minion searching appetite fully renewed....

8:04 pm Saturday, 2nd August, 2014

Frisky, Joe! Nooooooooo, don't do it fellas! Seriously, I don't want to come to visit you and see you all trussed up, drooling from the side of your mouths, rocking back and forth, vacant stare in your eye, muttering incoherent passages from the bible! img src="imagesadultemoticons026.gif" img src="imagesadultemoticons026.gif" img src="imagesadultemoticons026.gif" img src="imagesadultemoticons026.gif" img src="imagesadultemoticons026.gif" img src="imagesadultemoticons026.gif" img src="imagesadultemoticons026.gif" img src="imagesadultemoticons026.gif"

Luv2Suc. Let me take you up in my arms and whisk you away from the squalor you live in ...... to the squalor I live in !
Returning momentarily, to the subject of accents. Here in Spain the use of one's middle name is much more common and my name in Espanol sounds much better in that language, especially when intoned by a lovely senorita. Juan Guillermo.....sounds rather sexy don't you think ? No ?.....Ah Well, self-delusion is a harmless vice.
