Making The Most Of.......

7:43 pm Thursday, 17th April, 2014

After recent events in my life (or maybe i am just accepting that i'm nearing middle age) I have come to realise that not only are some of the old sayings the best, some are also very true.

Ones you have probably heard over & over...

Life is too short.
No one is promised tomorrow.
You only live once so make the most of it...
That is only a few. I am sure you canny lot will know many more?

So i decided before i either run out of time or become too old that there are things i would like to say, do, see, visit, experience and enjoy. My bucket list (although i prefer to refer to my list as Dreams, hopes, wishes and desires) some may think somewhat boring or too tame. But as time goes on i will no doubt add things or make changes....

1. Watch the sun rise and set in every continent in the world.
2. See the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis)
3. Visit Stonehenge (to marvel it's mystery)
4. Ride the Trans-Siberian railway.
5. Visit Kyoto's Ancient sites (in spring when cherry blossoms bloom)
6. Take a dip in a natural hot spring(with a glass of champagne in hand)
7. Visit the Maldives (due to effects of climate change sea levels rise,Islands will disappear in future)
8. Walk through a waterfall (just to see it from the other side)
9. Float in or should that be on the Dead Sea.
10.Send a message in a bottle (hopefully get a reply)
11.Try to learn a new language.
12.Spend a whole day having photographs taken( hope that at least one is worth printing)
13.Stop living my life by the clock.
14.Name a star.
15.Tell the people that matter to me that i love them every chance i get.

That is only a selection from my list.

Have you started your list yet, if so would you care to share??

10:30 pm Thursday, 17th April, 2014

Ah Firsttimers i thought bucket lists were for new experiences Hmm but maybe i could be wrong ;-)

10:39 pm Thursday, 17th April, 2014

A small cottage or croft is on my list as well. The more remote the better.
I'll also have the Northern Lights from your list as well please SunShine.
Visit Machu Picchu.
Go to Le Mans 24 hour.
Experience the perfect sunset (and sunrise) with someone special that you never want to end.
Watch Whales in the wild.
Attend the 1st day of a Lords test.
Learn to play Guitar.
Make a difference to at least one persons life so I won't be forgotten.
Have fun every single day.

I'm sure there is loads more I will think of later but that will do for now.

P.S. SunShine don't build up your hopes too much for Stonehenge. Better off going to Avebury or Ring of Brodgar.

10:46 pm Thursday, 17th April, 2014

I am very sure you will tick that box off your list Ronald.x

10:57 pm Thursday, 17th April, 2014

For some reason, I do not like the term "bucket list" Perhaps because in my mind, I am still going to keep going... perhaps it is silly.. buy I guess that I just don't like to explore the subject of lack of immortalitity.

That being said, there is nothing long with a "to do" list. Although I don't consciously have a long list as such, yet, I can think of several "to do's" which I aspire to achieve.

11:00 pm Thursday, 17th April, 2014

Joe i have seen both Whales and Dolphins in the wild, it is so tempting to dive in to swim with them, well the dolphins anyway Hmm maybe not the whales and deffo not if they are killer whales. Thanks for the tip although i shall still pay a visit to Stonehenge i will add Avebury & Ring of Brodgar to my list :-)

To be honest i only put up a small selection as i have too many to mention....Machu Picchu is on my list as is spending a night under the stars in the middle of a desert.

11:11 pm Thursday, 17th April, 2014

AWww Paul bless you,but unless someone finds a cure or can perform a miracle to grant everlasting life death comes to us all. I wouldn't want to live forever unless all the people i care about were also granted that same miracle. I don't think there could be anything worse for me to watch all my friends & loved ones pass away while i would be left to wander aimlessly.

11:29 pm Thursday, 17th April, 2014

I will look into my crystal ball and use my other mystic powers to see if i cand give you an exact arrival date al get back to you ASAP Ronald lol ;-)

12:57 am Friday, 18th April, 2014

Graham i understand lists are not for everyone as sometimes we reach a point in our life where we are happy with where we are and have no further need to follow our desire for "New". But till the moment arrives that i feel complete i hope to keep ticking as many boxes on my list as possible. :-)

1:04 am Friday, 18th April, 2014

Got to admit i actually don't like the term "Bucket list" my list is more a list of my Hopes, Dreams and Desires (^.^)

1:03 pm Friday, 18th April, 2014

Wingit i know exactly what you mean.x I support my daughter and am always there to pick her up when she falls, dust her down and set her off again hopefully in the right direction and that dosn't change even now when she is in her dream job. I will just sit here quietly in the wings ready for the next time she needs me, she knows i will always be there. Another very true saying "A mothers work is never doneover". :-)

4:42 pm Friday, 18th April, 2014

Ronald brace yourself as i look into my crystal ball, i see the image of a person heading in your direction in the near future. I can see you both enjoying a few drinks and having a good chat. the image is becoming clearer they are 5ft 11inch tall light brown short hair and have big...................
oh dear the mist has cleared and i recognize the person. You can stand down now it is Skebbie lol. Sorry couldn't resist that one as i know you two are meeting for a few pints. I am sure you two will enjoy. Have one, two or quite a few for me....x

4:58 pm Friday, 18th April, 2014

Hmm Awww Ronald now i am disappointed ;-( I rather liked peeking at that image but i will rub a bit harder. Ah yes i see now he is as always, dressed in black (^.^)
Enjoy you drinks guys.x

6:00 pm Friday, 18th April, 2014

Every morning when I wake up I reach out either side of me.

If I don't feel a pine box either side its going to be a fecking great day...

8:08 pm Friday, 18th April, 2014

I heard that :-) Ron, in fact I've been in town a lot this week and was hoping I might catch you on the street. I also walked past that pub (opposite to where you buy the Cumberland sausages :-) The pint will have to wait just a wee while because of unforeseen family circumstances, but I'll be in touch.

Stonehenge is all very well but I think Castlerigg is by far a superior setting, and I've already done my naked rite there, which was something that had been on the list for many years. Last November I also swam with wild dolphins off the coast of Hawaii. I think the things I want to do are mostly connected with nature and the seasons. I've seen sunrise from the summit of Mt Fuji twice, but each time it was with about 20,000 other people. However I've also seen sunrise alone from a tiny rocky platform about the size of a table at the top of a jagged peak in the Japan Alps, and that beat Mt Fuji hands down.

8:14 pm Friday, 18th April, 2014

Oh.....I suppose I should add that one thing beckons in particular before I die: It is to leave the Earth's atmosphere and see the blackness of space and the curvature of the Earth - even if it's just for a few minutes. I can't afford to travel on Virgin Galactic, but I'm hoping that if I'm spared long enough the price will come down enough to be affordable if I scrape all my pennies together for a final splurge. Perhaps it's something I have a fighting chance of achieving if the grim reaper stays away long enough.

8:44 pm Friday, 18th April, 2014

Sanshain: I can make no.12 happen if you promise to be the model :-)

8:50 pm Friday, 18th April, 2014

I spend most weeks working from 'to do' lists. I hate the thought of having yet another, so for this reason I don't have a 'bucket' full of stuff to do.
I do have hopes for the future and not wanting to bore folks too much, they include:
Watching my children lead happy and fulfilled lives;
inspiring someone to go out into the world and do something great with their life;
giving people a reason to remember me when I'm gone;
learning to walk in heels;
dying my hair a shade of purple (I'm serious).

That's it ...

12:55 am Saturday, 19th April, 2014

Skebbie after an online recce of Castlerigg i have to admit i would rather like to visit it on a cold misty morning to heighten it's aura of mystique.

1:13 am Saturday, 19th April, 2014

Luv2 the colour purple on the colour wheel means stability and energy and some say it is the colour of imagination.
Back in my days as a Goth i used to dye my hair black with lots of purple streaks. My English teachers at school always said i had a vivid, colourful imagination :-)

1:15 am Saturday, 19th April, 2014

Sukebe i just may take you up on that lol ;-)

7:42 am Saturday, 19th April, 2014

Got to admit Castlerigg is stunning Skebbie. The view from the circle is mindblowing and you can easily imagine why it was chosen. Well worth a visit SunShine!

Purple Luv2 ? Hope you've got a mask to match....

In truth the only thing anyone needs on their list is to be happy. It's how you achieve that which is the problem.

9:37 am Saturday, 19th April, 2014

sounds like pillow talk or somewhere over a drink... i like too chat along with you more x

10:42 am Saturday, 19th April, 2014

Plenty of time for adventure in the future BBW your time will come.x

Very true Joe. Being happy and findingexperiencing things that bring happinesscontentment are key. Sometimes even the simplest things can can have the biggest impact and bring much happiness.

For as long as i have left before the grim reaper pays me a visit wielding his scythe, i plan to seek out happiness and grab it with two hands at every opportunity :-)

11:55 am Saturday, 19th April, 2014

I consider myself very fortunate to have achieved most of the things in life, that I wanted to. Naturally, I hope for happy and successful lives for my kids and all the people I love.
I'm never going to score a century against the Aussies at Lords nor am I ever going to be Prime Minister but I can live with that. I would like to play Max Bialystock in " The producers " and hold the hope it may yet be possible.
My remaining ambition is to be still able to drive when the end comes.I would get a Ferrari and drive into oblivion ,like the guy in " On the Beach ". If it turns out that there is a heaven, nothing would please me more than to find all my dogs waiting for me at the Golden Gates with their tails wagging.

3:51 pm Saturday, 19th April, 2014

Fetch you never know that call still may come to for you to play max. I very sure the need for you to drive a Ferrari off into oblivion is a long way off yet.

You're welcome Star, i to find lots of the blog posts and comments from this rather canny lot to be somewhat thought provoking. That's one of the reasons i keep feeling drawn to the blogs.

7:46 pm Saturday, 19th April, 2014

Thought you said welding his scythe there homeleyboy....

Really must get to scecsavers

12:59 am Sunday, 20th April, 2014

1:41 pm Sunday, 20th April, 2014

Tut tut Ronald that rules me out then,it's been a very long time since i played a team sport :-(

3:02 pm Sunday, 20th April, 2014

They do say practice makes perfect Ronald ;-)

5:55 pm Sunday, 20th April, 2014

Hmm Graham maybe a cure for indigestion could be required lol

6:23 pm Sunday, 20th April, 2014

Oh yes indeed Suechris, i also would welcome the firemen with open arms ;-)

8:02 pm Sunday, 20th April, 2014

lol Graham maybe some night nurse would suit you better but may add fuel to the fire that burns within and that heat could become intensely powerful lol ;-)

6:34 pm Monday, 21st April, 2014

I used to hold First Aid & CPR certification CaptainR, but sadly they expired quite a few years ago.

They do say two can live as cheap as one :-)

6:44 pm Monday, 21st April, 2014

Sorry i forgot to add Stars name to last comment about living costs if her and BBWloving are sharing ;-)

6:47 pm Monday, 21st April, 2014

10:29 pm Monday, 5th May, 2014

There are some very interesting "to do" items here, Sunshine xxx

Perhaps I should reassess my own position and come up with some aspirations of my own. Sushi notwithstanding of course.

10:35 pm Monday, 5th May, 2014

I would recommend a delicious Bento sharing box ;-)

11:01 pm Tuesday, 13th May, 2014

I totally agree with that recommendation. Shall we share chopsticks too? x
